“FetishCon… where dreams come true… at least the kinky dreams” – Goddess XTC
On our way to Tampa I told my dear friend Sydney Screams that I intended to drink less, sleep more, and eat better this year. I’m proud to say I succeeded on all counts! And that’s barely scratching the surface of how awesome my life has been over the past week.
For so many of us FetishCon is a major highlight of our year. We start planning months in advance. We have countdowns to the day we arrive. And we get territorial when vanilla tourists hang out at the hotel bar.
This was only my second year. I’m still a newbie in many many ways. But the magic is infectious.
It’s the magic of escaping the rules and pressures so many of us have internalized so deeply that we don’t even notice their weight anymore. It’s a place where inner monologues are vocalized instead of silenced, for better or worse. And for several days the outside world ceases to exist.
That’s not the power of the Hilton. That’s the power of the people there.
The people I was lucky enough to be surrounded by all week are all beyond incredible. Everywhere I went I was reuniting with old friends or making awesome new friends. I got to work with, hang out with, and plan to work with some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. I’ll be sending love and gratitude for weeks, and still be worried that I missed someone who contributed to the wondrous absurdity of the week.
I don’t have the energy nor the mental capacity to even go over specific highlights. I’ll let my ridiculous twitter feed and the pictures speak for themselves.
I’m already planning my next trip back to Tampa. And I’m already planning for FetishCon 2014.
In the meantime I’m having fun playing “where did that come from?” with the assortment of bruises, bite marks, and scratches on my body. Yummy.
None of this would be possible without the incredible group of people who work their asses of every year. From the bottom of my heart, to everyone involved in putting FetishCon together, thank you!!!
